Bumper fleet confirmed for 2019 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast & Race 1 of the RPAYC’s Club Marine Bluewater Series

Bumper fleet confirmed for 2019 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast & Race 1 of the RPAYC’s Club Marine Bluewater Series

The newly formed Club Marine Bluewater Series features an eight race series this season and includes three events featured by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA).

By including such events to the program the Alfred’s has been able to increase not only the number of races available but the variety and participants to compete against, creating some great interclub rivalry. For combined Club’s events the results from the individual race will be used to calculate the Club Marine Pointscore.

Competitors can either enter the Series or casual as per race via the online entry system.

The largest fleet in more than 10 years is assembling to tackle the 2019 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast, with 78 boats preparing to take on the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s 384-nautical-mile challenge starting on Saturday 27 July.

Representing the Alfred’s in the race includes;

  • Bushranger
  • Kioni
  • Pekijus
  • Popeye
  • Pretty Woman
  • Pelagic Magic
  • Quest
  • Showtime
  • Sticky
  • Wings
  • Wild Oats X
  • XS Moment

To enter the 2019-2020 Club Marine Bluewater Series visit the RPAYC Website https://www.rpayc.com.au/sailing/yacht-racing/online-entry-system. View current entrants in the Alfred’s Club Marine Bluewater Series Here.

Entry into Combined Club event’s is via the host Club and their entry conditions.

The Club Marine Bluewater Series consists of the following races: Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race – Organised by the CYCA (R1) Bird Island – Sydney - Rtn Yacht Race (R2) Cabbage Tree Island Yacht Race – Organised by the CYCA (R3) Newcastle Rtn Yacht Race (R4) 75th Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race – Organised by the CYCA (R5) Sydney – Bird Island – Rtn Yacht Race (6) Port Hacking - Rtn Race (R7) Port Stephens Race (R8).

“The 2019 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race fleet is fantastic – more than 20 boats up from last year,” CYCA Commodore Paul Billingham says.

“The increased number of competing boats is reflective of an increased interest in the race, one of the most important and iconic events on the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s calendar.

“It’s going to be a wonderful event, starting on Sydney Harbour – we hope sailing and sporting fans alike get right behind it!”

The 78-strong 2019 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race fleet reads as a who’s who of Australian sailing. Headlined by the 2017 Tattersall Cup winner as overall winner of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Ichi Ban, skippered by Matt Allen, the fleet also includes a number of noteworthy entrants including 2017 PONANT Sydney Noumea winner Smuggler, the Oatley family’s Wild Oats X, Shane Kearns’ Komatsu Azzuro and reigning champion Chutzpah, skippered by Bruce Taylor.

The 2019 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race is the first race in the Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore, culminating in the 75th race to Hobart - the 2019 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.
