Practice day for the Gov Cup teams brought 8 to10 knots of wind, low 70’s temperature and a casual afternoon. All the teams checked in, got to renew friendships and make new ones. Many of the racers had been here before and/or competed against each other in a variety of events throughout the world. Some of the parents have arrived as well, including John Eastman and Richard Novak from Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club.

Six MC38s emerged through the mist and rain of Sydney over the last weekend in June competing in the MC38 Harbour Regatta. The less than favourable weather conditions did not break the spirits of the competitors and the performance of the MC38s did not disappoint in the light conditions and as always created some very close fleet racing.

Just as the whales retreat to warmer waters during July, so too does the cream of Australia’s youth sailing talent. Queensland Youth Week has become an iconic part of the Australian Youth Grand Prix circuit. Ideal in location, facilities, temperature and hospitality, the RQYS on the shores of Waterloo Bay once again did not disappoint in 2013 attracting over 280 competitors from all over Australia and New Zealand.
It has once again been another successful campaign to Europe. We left for Frankfurt just after Easter to meet up with our new training partners and coach. Our first stop was Hamburg where we picked up our new boat for the season, it was the boat that was sailed by the German 470 girls in London, and with the crews father being the boat builder we knew it would be a very special boat.
