Youth Championships Report 2018

Another great regatta at SLMASC at Lake Macquarie. There was plenty of puff on Saturday with intermediate racing cancelled later in the day and last open race also cancelled. Its great to see the RPA kids sticking it out and bailing madly despite waves filling their boats faster than they could get the water out. Sunday was a more normal affair with a good breeze and Jeremy cracking the whip for 5 races. Daniel made the most of the shifty conditions and dished out a sailing master class.
The green fleet had a blast as well with the best finish line to date, a huge blow up arch.

The evenings at the Bay Hotel where filled with tall stories, pretty good food, kids being kids and a very long RPA table each night.

Green fleet results:
Alexander Risbey and William Holdsworth equal 1st
Elliot Verhaeghe was also in the results with a 2nd and 4th before retiring sick from the regatta.

Intermediate results:
Piper Atwood best placed intermediate at 4th
Followed by Julia Pearce in 15th her best result

Open results:
Daniel Links placed open at 1st
Cooper Bellingham placed 3rd
Jonathan Tuite placed 4th
Angus Renton 10th
Olivia Williams 22nd
Eva Atwood 25th
Sienna Brown 33rd
Bayley Taylor 37th
Will Troop 45th
Marcus Samson 46th
Walter Tuite 48th
Isabella Holdsworth 54th
Albie Brown 57th
Kye Williams 58th
Nathan Pearce 77th

ACT Championships Report 2018

The Adina motel was home base again for RPA families with Pizza’s on the lawn on Saturday night and pool for the kids before the southerly came through and sent us all to bed, a blessing in disguise with no headaches the next morning.
Canberra turned the weather on for us yet again and Canberra Yacht Club provided a great venue. Lose up vantage points on the grass to watch the action. Saturday got off to a quiet start before the Canberra blow set in with some good gusts up to 30 knots giving the kids some lively conditions to contend with. I’m sure some kids had never sailed as fast as they did on Saturday.

Sunday was a lot quieter with no wind to speak of. The kids tried their best to get Jeremy out in the start boat by taking to the water on mass and proceeded to drift around for a couple of hours before the day was finally called off at 2pm.

Intermediate results:
Congratulations to Piper Atwood 1st
Followed by Julia Pearce 12th
Alexander Risbey 13th

Open results:
Congratulations Cooper Bellingham 2nd
Followed by Jonathan Tuite 3rd
Austin cross 4th
Angus Renton 5th
Olivia Williams 7th
Marcus Samson 13th
Darcy Robins 21st
Will troop 26th
Kye Williams 29th
Walter Tuite 32nd
Nathan Pearce 40th

Green fleet:
No results scored
