Recreational Boating restrictions were eased in some areas over the weekend and the great news to come from this is that staying on your vessel overnight is now allowed. Social distancing and hygiene requirements are still in force; however, this now means that overnight escape that many of our members enjoy is again permitted. Organised Racing and Cruising events will however take a little longer to return. The RPAYC, as a Club affiliated with Australian Sailing (AS), is meeting regularly with other Clubs and AS to discuss the return of organised race competition and cruising activities. Club Commodores are meeting weekly to discuss and plan for the return to normal boating activities. AS is taking much of its direction from guidelines that have been prepared by the Australian Institute of Sport. At this stage we do not anticipate on water organised events returning until late June or July.
There has also been some positive news on opening up Food & Beverage at the Club. The current restrictions allow Clubs, Pubs, Restaurants and Cafes to have a maximum of 10 patrons at any one time. At this stage we will be continuing with our successful ‘Grab and Go’ take away food and beverage option, however for safety and financial reasons we will not be offering seated dining.
With the Club closure it has given some our staff the ability to tidy up and deep clean storage and kitchen areas, repaint and clean in Halyards annex, clean and tidy up paving issues, build garden edge retaining walls and tidy up Centreboard boat storage. Staff are making sure that everything is in place and ready to go for on-water and off-water activities when we are given the green light. Hopefully this is not too far away.
Again, a reminder if you wish to take advantage of the membership subscription rebate please make sure that you comply with the following requirements. The rebate will be equivalent to 50% of your monthly subscription fee and will be credited to your membership account. This arrangement commenced from 1 May 2020 and is intended to operate for an initial period of three (3) months. It will then be reviewed at 31 July 2020. In recognition of your support if we open prior to the end of July the 3-month rebate will still be honoured. This special rebate offer has been put in place by the Board in response to the difficult times and the restrictions that have been applied to our Club due to the Coronavirus pandemic for the period that the Clubhouse remains closed. To be eligible for this rebate, your annual membership subscription fee must either be paid in full and received prior to 31 May 2020, or you commit to the Club’s monthly direct debit arrangement and your monthly instalment is received on the 20th of each month.
