Barts Bash - Ever wanted to be a Guinness World Record Holder? Now is your chance

Centreboard Sailors,

Ever wanted to be a Guinness World Record Holder?  Now is your chance!

Rather than our usual Centreboard Racing this Sunday, we will be doing something a little different.  The Clubs of Pittwater are uniting to be involved in the Biggest Sailing Event in the World, Barts Bash.

For those Keelboat owners RMYC are running a Barts Bash event for you, visit the RMYC Barts Bash Site for registration details: http://www.bartsbash.co.uk/club/royal-motor-yacht-club-newport

When:  Sunday, 21 September

Time:  1100 start

Where:  Pittwater, RPAYC

What:  Passage race around the yellow markers in Pittwater

What is Barts Bash?

Bart’s Bash is a global sailing event being sailed at all local sailing or yacht clubs around the world on the same day, Sunday 21 September 2014 on behalf of a charity, The Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation.

What is the Andrew Simpson Foundation?
As you may recall, Andrew “Bart” Simpson tragically passed away while training for the America’s Cup in May 2013.  Andrew was an incredible sailor who won Gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and Silver at the 2012 London Olympics in the Star Class and believed in the next generation of sailors. The Foundation is a charity that was set up in memory of Andrew Simpson by Sir Ben Ainslie, Iain Percy and Andrew’s wife Leah to inspire the next generation through sailing.

How is RPAYC getting involved?
The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club has signed up for Barts Bash and will be hosting a Centreboard Dinghy Passage Race on Sunday the 21 of September.  The Royal Motor Yacht Club will be hosting a Yacht Passage Race on the same day.

What can I sail?

All classes of Dinghies are invited to compete through the RPAYC, with all Yachts invited to compete through RMYC.

How do I sign up?

Enter the race by signing up through the Barts Bash Website

http://www.bartsbash.co.uk/club/royal-prince-alfred-yacht-club

How much does it cost?

There is no entry fee for this event.  However, we do encourage everyone to donate to the Andrew Simpson Foundation (through the Barts Bash Website).

You must sign up or else you won’t be a Guinness World Record Holder!
