At the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta part of the ISAF Sailing World Cup currently being sailed in Weymouth, UK the venue for the 2012 Olympics, RPAYC's Nicky Souter and here crew of Nina Curtis and Olivia Price were on top of the Gold Fleet ladder after Stage 2 of the round robin was completed. They finished the round the best with an 80% record with 4 wins from 5 starts, moving into the quarter finals.
In the repecharge stage, Katie Spithill and her crew of Jessica Eastwell and Angela Farrell also managed to secure one of the two remaining spots in the quarter finals after finishing on top of her repecharge pool. Spithill also managed an 80% win rate with 4 form 5 wins equalling the Swedish team, but were granted poll position having beaten the Swedes in their match up.

The quarter finals completed two races today as they begin their surge to the podium with the current results as follows:
Quarter Final 1 Souter, Curtis and Price AUS and Kjelleberg, Kallstrom and Harryson SWE tied 1-1 Quarter- final 2: Leroy, Riou and Bertrand FRA and Spithill, Eastwell and Farrell AUS tied 1-1

In other news from the regatta, they are getting to the business end of the regatta for the Skud-18s leading into the final day where the Australian pair of Daniel Fitzgibbon (RPAYC) and Rachael Cox have been battling with the UK’s Alexandra Rickham and Niki Birrel. The pair had traded first and second places until the final race of today, when Rickham and Birrel had a rudder problem and were forced to retire. It’s given the Aussies a four point advantage going into the final day.
