An emphatic win for RPAYC members Rod and Kerry Waterhouse at the 2010 “WEIHAI CUP” HOBIE WORLDS being held at Weihai International Bathing Beach in China. Racing in the Masters Division and representing Australia, they finished with 10 wins from 14 races, with their worst result a sixth, totally dominating the International field finishing on a net 20 points, 15 points ahead of the second place William and Lucinda Edward of South Africa with Bob Engwirda and Brad Wilson of Australia back in third.
The series finished in 15 to 20 knots of breeze and four 2GO's (3 times around with a gate and offset) that really tested the stamina of the competitors.

In the Grand Masters Division, RPAYC member Evelyn Curtis sailing with PBSC's Anthony Duchatel also finished strongly after losing their jib in the first race of the day to win the next three races and the series.They also dominted the fleet and also finished on 20 net points with seven wins, five seconds, a third and a 15th as their drop.
They finished 24 points ahead of Harry Handly and Peter Evrard from New Zealand with Bruce Tardrew and Sarah Turnbull from Australia third who finished on equal points.

The Hobie Worlds are on between 15 August to 31 August 2010 and is the first time such a grand event is being held in Asia. It's also one of the top international events in China following the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2010 Shanghai World Expo. There are more than 150 crews and 400 sailors from nearly 30 countries including the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Germany, Brazil, Japan, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, the Fiji Islands, Spain, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand and Australia, taking part in the contest in youth groups, women's groups, masters, the grand masters and open worlds.
