The Alfred’s is now home to the biggest fleet of Couta Boats outside Victoria. Five of these splendid gunter-rigged open boats now race regularly with the club and there is every indication that more are on the way. Bruce Stannard reflects on the colourful history of the Couta Boats and the bright prospects for their future in Sydney.

The 2011 Australian Yachting Awards recognises outstanding achievements in the sport of sailing between 16 August 2010 and 31 August 2011 with the winners will be named at a dinner on Friday 28 October at Sydney’s Luna Park.
Yachting Australia again received a long list of worthy nominees with 65 nominations for the eight categories.

Vale Donald Silver 1920-2011

It is with sadness that we inform you that 25 year club member and racing regular Donald Silver passed away very peacefully on Tuesday 18th October after a short illness.

Melges Fleets East Coast Championships -  Tracey Walters

Less than a month to go until Pittwater becomes the battle ground for exciting, competitive one design racing in the Melges 24 and Melges 32 fleets.

The second event on the 2011 -12 Melges Regatta Schedule is the East Coast Championships (5 – 6 November), hosted by the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club in conjunction with Pittwater Festival of Sail.
