Traditionally twilight races were a two sail event but with the advent
of the Ladies Twilights in 1994 at RAYC a new trend was set. In order
to advance the experience of the RPAYC woman in racing and thanks to
the sponsorship of Marcus Blackmore, the series was organised and an
allowance for spinnakers was made and a new competitive spirit was born
within the Club.
The RPAYC Women’s Relay Challenge held on 20 September proved to be a brilliant success with the sparkling waters of Pittwater beckoning 12 boats allocated to 4 teams of each a Sydney 38, an 11 metre and a Force 24. After a short delay the wind finally arrived and the first race got underway and thankfully the breeze held in and strengthened to enable 3 races to be completed.

Seve Jarvin and his crew of Sam Newton, Steve Jarvin and Graeme Sutherland, representing the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) have won the 2009 Australian Match Racing Championship today on Pittwater.
The event, hosted by The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club in conjunction with Yachting Australia, was a fitting finale for Jarvin who last contested this event in 2005 where he finished second to three time winner Michael Dunstan (RSYS). This year, however, the positions were reversed and it was Jarvin who managed to get his hand on the trophy with a resounding victory of 3-1 in the best of five final.
