An electrical thunderstorm brought an abrupt end to the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s Rolex Trophy, but it made little difference to the Sydney 38 winner, Mark Griffith with his Old School and Guido Belgiorno-Nettis’ Transfusion, both of whom had led the two classes from Day 1. 

Fortunately, Principal Race Officer Denis Thompson had put two of the three scheduled races to bed before the Manly Circle waters turned to glass and a big southerly buster blew the light nor’ easter to pieces.

Zhik Etchells 2012 Australian Championship

The Notice of Race and online entry system for the Zhik Etchells 2012 Australian Championship, to be held from 9^th to 14^th February at Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, is now available on the event website.

With the Etchells World Championship in Sydney immediately following the national championship, Regatta Director David Ritchard expects over 80 international and Australian entries in the Australian Championship.

In late September, 32 players commenced Round 1 of the RPAYC Snooker Championship Tournament.  On the evening of Friday, December 9, a five frame final was played between  Andrew Glover and John Sheehan.

RPAYC's Sydney 38's finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 38 division at the 34th SSORC (Sydney Short Ocean Racing Championship) Regatta hosted by the Middle Harbour Yacht Club over the week-end of 26-27 November.
