Zhik International Etchells 2012 Australian Championship

Entry to the Zhik International Etchells 2012 Australian Championship, to be held by Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club in Sydney, closes in just under one week on 2nd February.

Regatta Director David Ritchard is looking forward to welcoming entries from around Australia even if the skippers haven’t qualified for the World Championship in Sydney, to be held later in the month. Registration for the event will be held on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th February. Included in the program is pre-measurement of the boats that are competing in the Worlds.

The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club together with Club Marine will host the inaugural Club Marine Pittwater Sail Expo, a community event to be held over the week end of 24 & 25 March, 2012 featuring exhibitors supplying goods and services to the professional and leisure sailor as well as providing information on sail training, club membership, cruising, dinghy and yacht racing.

Club Marine Pittwater Sail Expo spokesman Maurice Gilet said the Expo set out to achieve several key objectives and the overwhelming support from exhibitors was a good indication that these objectives were achieved.

The advisory period for new NSW legislation regarding lifejacket requirements for recreational boats ended in December and that the requirements are now being enforced.

Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club sailors Nicky Souter (skipper), Jessica Eastwell and Katie Spithill have placed 5th from 29 teams in the ISAF World Sailing Championships in Perth last week, sailing in the Women’s Match Racing discipline in Elliott 6 m keelboats.
