Zhik Etchells Nationals: entry deadline extended |

The deadline for entries to the Zhik International Etchells 2012 Australian Championship has been extended to 5pm on Saturday 4th February 2012.
The traditional late entry fee has been waived until Saturday giving Etchells sailors the chance to get their entry in before late penalties apply.

Second National Victory for Bandits in the 2012 Melges 24 Australian Championships |

Today was a hot final day of racing with the dolphins on Corio Bay, Geelong, at the Parks Victoria 2012 Melges 24 Australian Championship.
A first in race nine sealed a podium place for the crew on Warwick Rooklyn's Bandit (CYCA) ahead of Kevin Nixon's Accru (RPAYC), allowing them to skip race ten for an early pack up in Geelong. A well deserved win to the team onboard Warwick Rooklyn’s Bandit handed them their second Australian Melges 24 Championship.

Melges Mix it up for day three of Australian Champs |

The fleet was back in Corio Bay for day three of the Parks Victoria Melges 24 Australian Championships, hot sun and a light to moderate South Easterly breeze set the scene for three windward leeward races.
The fleet seem to get closer together the more races they complete. Big achievers of the day were Heath Townsend Kaito the Western Australian representative and Dave Alexander Foxtrot from South Australia.

Lou Abrahams ‘The Next Challenge’ crowned 2012 Sydney 38 National champion |

The Lou Abrahams owned, Mark Bulka skippered ‘The Next Challenge’ has been crowned the 2012 Sydney 38 national champion with a comfortable 12 point win. Hosted by The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club over the past three days, the nationals attracted 15 entries and one of the strongest fleets in years with close racing on the Palm Beach circle the highlight of the series. Nine races were sailed in a variety of conditions ranging from very light shifting breezes to a gusty Sou’ Easter reaching 20 knots at times.

Day two and crews were notified that the race area had changed to Course D outside Corio Bay, an hour out through the shipping channel.
The first race of the day was abandoned after the wind died completely an hour and a half into racing on the second lap, Bandit leading.
