2/3/10 - A letter to the Commodore re: RPAYC Centreboard Program
RPAYC is to host the 2011 Oceania and Australian Optimist Championship. The NoR will be available soon from the NSWIODA website.
The Club's
Centreboard Division races the International Optimist, Flying 11, International
420, Laser 4.7, Radial and Standard rigs and International 29er.
Sunday is the usual race day during the summer months for centreboard racing.
The lawn area in front of Moonbar is a buzz of activity prior to launching on Sunday mornings.
A big part of Centreboard racing is the family involvement with Mums and Dads helping to rig boats prior to the race and then helping out in rescue craft on the water during the race.
Yachting/Centreboard Racing
This division of the Club has provided such high quality extensive training, that it has produced world champion sailors as well as a large group of very competent Club level sailors.
The Centreboard Division not only conducts Club regattas but Inter- Club, State, National and, from time to time, World Championships.
